Port Dock Station building

The station building construction...constructed from 2mm and 1mm card, then laminated with airbrushed cream matt photo paper for the rendered look.

The basic building shell made from card. The main conopy end wall was made from 6mm Balsawood, which was then laminated with Faller stone card sheet.

The original building surface was dressed stone but late in the building's life the surface was rendered with a cream colour finish. I Mimicked that surface by spray painting some Matt photo paper with Humbrol No.103 Cream. Cut out the areas needed to be covered and PVA glued onto the building.

Not knowing what the inside of the foyer looked like I made an educated guess on what it may have looked like - a set of steps up to platform height would have been needed with ticket office, a waiting room and possibly a baggage room. So i fashioned a acouple of walls that would complement the half hexagon shape of the building.

At the extreme end of the building appeared to be a federation style quoining so this was made using small blocks made from card and glued on individually. Then all the red brick quoining, foundation and entrance pillars were laminated with brick paper again from the Metcalfe range. The quoining seen here were cut by hand. Again PVA glue was used to secure all the card and paper products.

Roof added with corrugated iron, with ridge capping made from wire and copier paper - all painted with Humbrol No.107. The last items to go onto the building were the chimneys...
The roof was clad in corrugated iron so I used Slater's Styrene sheets with copper wire used for the ridge capping. Doors and windows were added from my scrap/leftovers box. Some plastic awening brackets were added and downpipes added last over the brickwork.
